HISTORY

 

1994   to

1996

DJ Redcross aka Crossfire began djing and making A.N.P. Mix Tapes in Florida 

 

First live performance as ANP-Sound Shaper at Labor Temple, Tampa, FL for theKirky-C Muzik Station Selecta Roll Call (members Redcross, Moonie Moon & Ivan the Barber)

 

 

ANP Hip Hop & Reggae Mix Tapes on sale at Kirky C Muzik Station (Tampa, FL), Taste of the Caribbean (St.Pete), USF Scott (Tampa), Devry Institute (Decatur, Ga), Phat Gear (Atl, Ga) & Lion's Den (Atl, Ga) 

 

 

Events in various clubs in Tampa & St.Pete (Purpleman Promotions, USF, St.Pete JC, etc.) 

 

1996

Unity Sound formed.  While voicing their first dubplate by Ninja Ford, member DJ Redcross & Poison Dart's Kirky C thought about the sound name.  To no conclusion the artist was waiting and decided "Unity Sound" is an appropriate name.  The members agreed and from that day Unity Sound it has been.  big respect to NINJA FORD!!!! 

 

 

Summer 1996, DJ Redcross moved to Atlanta, GA to live with his brother, Dready 

 

 

Summer 1996, DJ Redcross & Dready hustled mix tapes on the streets, in front of clubs, to the flea markets in Atlanta. 

 

 

June 1996, DJ Redcross & Dready opened up UNITY SOUNDS in a mini-mall on Candler Rd in Decatur, Ga.  selling camo gear & mix tapes. 

 

1997

Unity Sounds Record Shop moved to an official store front in the same plaza as the mini-mall on Candler Rd.  Specializing in 7 inch vinyl & mix tapes 

 

 

Unity Sounds 1st official mix CD released entitled 1997 Dancehall Reggae Mix. It later became known as the "monkey cd".

 

 

1998

Unity Sounds 2nd official mix CD released entitled 1998 Dancehall Reggae Mix.  This CD spanned the globe!!!!  It was distributed through a vendor in Miami who sent it to the far reaches. 

  

 

Unity Sounds Jah Kingdom CD released.  The 1st real culture mix CD to be put on the market.  This also was distributed well and is still requested by fans worldwide. 

 

 

Unity Sound plays regularly at Club Sol in Atlanta and travels to Virgin Islands, Chicago, Alabama, Texas for the first time. 

 

1999

DJ Redcross starts the More Fire Show longside Norman Bates on WRAS 88.5fm on Friday nights in Atlanta.  DJ Redcross now is called Crossfire.  

 

 

Unity Sound releases thier 1st in the Unity Gold series. 

 

2000

 More Fire Show  wins "Best Radio Show" in the Atlanta Caribbean Awards beating out well estabished shows. 

 

 

DJ Redcross aka Crossfire & Norman Bates starts the Easy Fyah Show on WRAS 88.5fm on Sundays. 

 

2001

www.unitysounds.com is launched!!! 

 

2002

Unity Sound participates in the Atlanta Cup Clash versus King AP & Highlander Sound.  Unity Sound lost in the 1 for 1 to King AP. 

 

 

Unity Sound travels to Japan, Jamaica, NYC for the 1st time.  Continues to travel throughout the US. 

 

2003

DJ Redcross aka Crossfire graduates from GSU, hands over the More Fire & Easy Fyah Show to Norman Bates, Passes Unity Sound Record Shop to Dready and relocates to Tampa, FL. 

 

2004

Unity Sound travels to Japan again (spring 2004). 

 

 

DJ Redcross aka Crossfire moves to Yokohama, Japan (summer 2004). 

 

2005

Unity Sound Record Shop closes.  Website still open.  Dready relocates to Florida. 

 

 

Unity Sound slowly builds in Japan

 

2006

Unity Sound releases their 1st official Mix CD in Japan.  Unity Gold 2006 part 1 & 2 

 

 

Unity Sound releases their 1st ALL DUBPLATE mix CD in Japan & US:Legends  

 

 

Unity Sound hosts the Far East Invasion Tour in the US longside Tokyo's Black Assassin & Yokohama's Jamtek.  Atlanta / Tampa / Cayman Is.  

 

2007

Long time bredren Arif Cooper joins Unity Sound.  Crossfire joins Fresh Ear label (Jamaica). 

 

 

Unity Sound releases their 2nd ALL DUBPLATE mix CD in Japan & US:Leaders of the New School dubplate mix 

 

 

www.unitysounds.com closes. 

 

 

Unity Sound and 65E releases Sadiki: The Sound Killachi CD in Japan. 

 

 

Unity Sound promotes the artist Sadiki in Japan with the Sound Killachi Tour and signs a deal for his debut album with P-Vine / Blue Interaction. 

 

 

Crossfire & Bigga C from Jamtek form 2 Fadda Promotions and start their every month dance entitled SKIN 2 SKIN at Ex Bodega in Yokohama, Japan. 

 

 

Unity Sound and Jamtek hosts the Million Stylez Japan Tour 2007. 

 

 

Unity Sound starts thier Bootleg Series in Japan.  Bootleg Series are Unity Sound mix cds with the latest riddims and singles out.  Usually including all pre-released material.  A few dubplates are included. 

 

 

Unity Sound travels to Europe (Germany & Switzerland) longside Jamtek.

 Unity Sound hosts the Sadiki Japan Tour

 

 Unity Sound starts their monthly Dance "Unity Friday" at Ex  Bodega.

 

 Unity Sound builds up their name in Japan, travellling all over

 

 Unity Sound hosts thier yearly "Unity Cup" clash

 

 Unity Sound hosts the Gappy Ranks Japan Tour.  However, it  was quickly interrupted by the 3/11 Earthquake & Tsunami.

 

  Unity Sound goes back to Europe for the Unity Sound  (Switzerland) Anniversary Dance.

 

 Unity Sound launches their official App for iPhones & Androids

 

 Unity Sound hosts the Safari Sound Japan Tour

 

 Unity Sound embarks on thier first West Coast (Cali &  Washington) Tour in the US.

 

 Unity Sound hosts the Bobby Hustle Japan Tour
